The members of EBC covenant to live together as the church of Jesus Christ. Our commitment to this document follows the practice of believers throughout the centuries who have pledged to God, and one another, to live out the gospel in community. By emphasizing the covenantal nature of our life together, we strive to protect ourselves from individual and corporate sin and to spur one another on to live in light of a greater covenant–one initiated by love, sealed by sacrifice, and kept for eternity by our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Church Covenant

Having been led by divine grace to repent of our sin and trust for salvation in the substitutionary death and victorious resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and upon this profession having been immersed in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; we solemnly and joyfully renew our covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

We pledge to regularly attend the assembling of this church; to support its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrine; and to contribute willingly and faithfully to its spiritual and financial stability and its spread of the gospel to all nations.

We pledge to walk together in a spirit of unity and love; to avoid all unwholesome and unedifying speech; to honor the leadership of the flock; and to exercise affectionate concern and spiritual watchcare over one another.

We pledge to faithfully admonish and encourage one another to live holy lives; to serve one another; to rejoice in one another’s happiness; and to bear one another’s burdens and sorrows with tender compassion.

We pledge to be zealous for good works; to regularly read and meditate upon the Scriptures; to pray for ourselves and one another; to persevere in wise living not causing others to stumble, rejecting ungodliness and embracing holiness; and to seek the salvation of the lost through faithful proclamation of the gospel.

We also pledge that if we leave this assembly, we will promptly unite with another church where we may carry out the spirit of this covenant.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen.
